You’re at your desk after being stuck on a call for over an hour. You look at your inbox, and what do you find? Your MD requests you order a deal toy. This could go one of two ways: you could think to yourself “ugh… can I even do this?” or you’re one of those who loves to work on the deal toys. Don’t worry, we’re prepared for whichever one of these you are.
We’re here to show you exactly why deal toys are more relevant than they ever were. Sure, your MD might be talking about his glory days when he shows you his first deal toys, but the industry of deal toys has grown beyond measure. As you clearly know, deal toys have become an integral part of the financial banking industry.
When you become a pro, you’ll work on deal after deal. You won’t even remember the deals you worked on previous to the one you’re currently sweating over. So, what makes you think your client will? Or your MD at the end of the year (can you say: “holiday bonus” ?!). This can be especially true today when you might not be in the office every day working with your team members or higher-ups. You want to make sure your deal toy has a presence because when someone looks at it, they’ll remember the job well done that you did on said deal.
At the end of the day, you like to be celebrated for your accomplishments. Whether you realize it or not, it’s simply human nature. While you, of course, blow off some steam with your team members at the closing dinner or trip (or Zoom happy hour), it’s always nice to have a physical reminder of what project you worked on. We know you’re all pretty competitive. When chatting with you about creating some new pieces, some sentences we hear a lot “I want this to be better than the last one” or “I want this one to be bigger than Mike’s.” Are we wrong? While you might be competitive, we are as well. There’s nothing like topping our last designs!
We’re home and looking around and thinking to ourselves “I could really use a piece on that coffee table” or “I need to fill these bookshelves.” What better way to do this than with your accomplishments. We’d be lying if we said we didn’t grab some deal toy samples from our office to decorate! Imagine this: you have a guest over and they look at your coffee table: “is that a bronzed chariot.” To which you get to answer, “yes. Yes, it is.”
On a more serious note, this past year, the pandemic has thrown everyone for a loop. It took some time to get a groove, yes for employees, but a lot of companies had to sit down and review everything they thought they know about their people.
While we are all still figuring this out together, it is obvious that a lot has changed and we’re not sure when it’ll go back. If you don’t already know what we’re thinking about, it’s closing dinners. The logistics behind it in today’s age are much more difficult than BC…before COVID. Now you’ve got Kevin back in Michigan with his parents, your MD moved out East to a family home, and Charlie is frolicking through Europe.
What better way to celebrate all this remote work than with a gift to your front door? Wherever you are! A deal toy to commemorate the deal, even from home is extremely important. If you’re lucky, you’ll get it in a nice gift basket. We’ve seen etched bottles go in alongside the deal toy, some branded swag, etc. There are still plenty of ways to celebrate with remote workers, or if closing dinner aren’t realistic yet.
Also, it’s like Christmas. You make a list, and you send it to the north pole. Or in this case, you send it to Altrum and can expect an exciting delivery right to your door.

As a foreword: our standard turnaround time is anywhere from 6-8 weeks. If you need it quicker, there are always solutions. Just let us know upfront!
The first step is to discuss your project with your designated Altrum representative. If you need help brainstorming, our gallery is a great place to start. We’ll have a quick conversation with you about what you’re looking for, your team’s preferences, any deadlines you might have, quantity and budget. Then, within 48 hours, we will send you 3 initial mock-ups and quotes as a starting point.
From there, based on your team’s feedback, we like to say that you should allow yourself another 2 or so weeks to sit with the designs: allow your team members to look and give feedback. Essentially, this is your team’s approval time.
While we always recommend a prototype, this part is completely optional. This would simply be item number one of your order where you can hold it, pass it around, and make sure all text and deal toy is exactly how you want it.
After your final approval, your order will be produced within 3 weeks. We can deliver in whichever way is easiest for you: ship to an office, a closing dinner location, or individually drop ship to each recipient.
